Over the course of three studio albums and two mix records, including the groundbreaking debut Vegas, the band has cemented its reputation through successful collaborations with rock heavyweights and years of touring, both as a live act and as DJs. After over a decade in the music business, THE CRYSTAL METHOD have scored their first feature film, London. The original motion picture soundtrack for the film is due out January 24, 2006 as the first release from the band’s Tiny E Records.
“We're so excited and inspired by scoring this film,” states The Crystal Method’s Ken Jordan about the experience of doing music for their first feature motion picture. “We feel this is some of the best work we've ever done." Adds his partner Scott Kirland, “We had an incredible time working on this film. It was a joy to create a score for a film with such an original story and such great actors. To have the soundtrack as the first release on our own Tiny E label is like icing on the cake.”
The upcoming theatrical release London is the debut effort from writer/director Hunter Richards and stars Chris Evans (Fantastic Four), Jason Statham (Transporter 1 and 2), and Jessica Biel (Stealth, Elizabethtown.) Produced by the team that created Spun, the film is an outrageous series of cocaine-inspired adventures centered around a trendy New York loft party. Jason Statham is at his best as Bateman, a stock-broker/cocaine dealer recanting his outrageous sexual deviancies to Chris Stevens' Syd character who is reminiscing about his failed relationship with Jessica Biel's character title London. The movie, R-Rated for its sexual and drug content, promises to be the cult movie of the year.
The excitement of the film is perfectly captured on its soundtrack which features nine brand new original recordings by The Crystal Method as well as selections by break-beat masters Evil Nine featuring Toastie Taylor and Hyper, and genre-bending artists like the soul/funk outfit Connie Price & the Keystones and rockers The Out Crowd (which features members formerly of Brian Jonestown Massacre), Troy Bonnes and the Perishers.
