After launching in 2003, Munich based imprint Great Stuff Recordings now reaches it´s 5th birthday and to coincide with this landmark is set to release a double disc compilation in February 2009, aptly titled ´5 Years Of Great Stuff´.


The first disc sees label mainstays Tomcraft and Lutzenkirchen provide an extensive ´megamix´ of the label´s back catalogue, placing some of the earlier works alongside those from the past year, all mixed, mashed and edited to fit onto one expansive disc, whilst the second cd features brand new exclusive remixes of some of the best tracks from the catalogue.

Previous installments have seen such artists as Faithless and Tom Middleton present a comprehensive insight into not only their studios, but their home listening favourites and influences, and the latest volume will see the S-Man himself, Roger Sanchez take the helm.

After the recent excursion to Lima with Nick Warren closes out 2008 for Global Underground, the start of 2009 will see Darren Emerson return to the label for his third mix compilation, following on from his previous journies to Uruguay and Singapore. This time GU heads to Bogota, a city with historic roots in on the South American continent and now a bustling metropolis with a constantly club scene, and Emerson´s latest double cd, not only shares these musical values but marks a long overdue return to the brand, when GU36 is released in early February 2009.

RIP Records quickly became a widely respected label for quality house records over the course of it´s initial run from 1998-2005 and after somewhat of a hiatus is now resurrected and recommenced with a new direction and focus. After two artist albums (2001´s ´Fahrenheit Fair Enough´ and 2004´s ´Map Of What Is Effortless´), New Orleans outfit Telefon Tel Aviv have focused more on their live shows and remixes (as compiled in the aptly titled 2007 release ´Remixes Compiled´), but after returning to the studio are now set to kick off 2009 with their new album ´Immolate Yourself´ on Bpitch Control, featuring such tracks as recent free download ´Helen Of Troy´ and ´You Are The Worst Thing In The World´, with a release date set for late January.

Audio Therapy continues it´s annual tradition and is set to present the 2008 Edition of it´s Autumn Winter artist sampler series. Past releases have seen contributions from artists such as Nick Muir and this time around the focus is more on the new blood that has so predominantly shone throughout the year, an international cross section of some of the best new talent, with a bonus DJ mix provided by label mainstay Oliver Moldan.

After a slight hiatus, we now return to presenting our podcasts, and what better way to kick things off than with the latest mix from Justin Steel. Aside from continuing with his Illicit Audio DJ venture, he has been in the studio working on some original productions and remixes which have all recently been released on Beatport on labels such as Cubism and Stripped.

Here he delivers yet another masterful hour plus mix featuring material from The Timewriter, Nick Chacona and Minilogue, and also featuring the recent track 'Flyertalk' by Christian Smith, and as we move forward towards 2009, expect to hear a lot more about Justin over the coming months.

As 2008 nears it´s conclusion, Renaissance continues it´s strong line-up of releases over the last several months, announcing the upcoming release of the 11th chapter in it´s acclaimed Masters Series. Once again they invite Satoshi Tomiie to helm the project, marking his third compilation for the label, following on from a previous Masters album and the well received inaugural 3D compilation. The album features an array of fine cuts, from artists that include Shur-I-Kan, Marc Romboy, Layo & Bushwacka and a new original production from Satoshi himself under the name of Mes, and will be released in early November.

Swedish producer Parham Shafti returns with a new record label in collaboration with Jon Sutton of Evolution and Fluid Recordings fame. Unfokused Music has now launched with an excellent first release from Jamie Stevens entitled ´We Can Hold On´, while a collaboration of his own with Dominic Plaza under the guise of The Quantum Mechanics entitled ´People & Rebels´ is due to follow shortly. EQ´s acclaimed Balance series returns early in 2009 with it´s 14th volume, with the label taking a turn in direction and enlisting none other than Joris Voorn to compile and mix the album. More information to follow as soon as it is available.

Aquilia´s ´Dreamstate´, one of the standout tracks on Sasha´s Global Underground : Ibiza album is due to be re-released in November on the recently launched Northern Exposure imprint. Alongside the original and LSG versions comes a stellar new remix from Grafiti.

Rising star Neil Quigley is set to mix his first compilation, due for release later in 2008. More information will follow as soon we hear more.

Global Underground continues it´s worldwide travels over the coming months, with forthcoming albums to be mixed by Eric Prydz in Stockholm, and a new mix from Darren Emerson early in 2009.
