Guy J "Lamur"
Out Now on Bedrock RecordsTo say that Israeli producer Guy J hit the ground running would be somewhat of an understatement. His album "Esperanza" on Bedrock has been critically acclaimed by all corners of the scene. His latest single "Lamur" has been making waves lately and if you generally keep up to date then you will no doubt be hearing this one belted out very soon, if you haven't already.
Guy J is known for his beautiful melodies which we were exposed not too long ago on "Esperanza". "Lamur" works up a tight but bouncy vibe with a stabbing bassline running underneath. A shy melody creeps in but then constantly draws back as if teasing the listener. Once the breakdown hits it comes out from hiding to show itself in all its glory and remains in this state for the better part of the rest of the track. It is a truly memorable hook and this is what is winning over both DJs and listeners alike. It is not easily forgotten, and after a big night out it is the one melody going around at the moment that is likely to remain in your head.
A man who if you haven't heard of already, then you most certainly will in the coming months, is Henry Saiz. Just like Guy J this Spanish producer and DJ exploded on to the scene quite recently. His pounding remix on "Lamur" is aimed right at the dancefloor, and that is exactly where it lands. The bassline is beefed up and the screws are tightened up in various places to transform the bouncing feel of the original to a much more driving feel. The melody is tweaked up to give it a slight change in sound, however the overall feel is still kept intact. It would be absolutely disastrous to mess with that melody any more than needed, which is why this remix is so successful. It rounds out the release perfectly, and it is no wonder that this is a current personal favourite of Digweed himself. Prepare yourself to be blown away, because you will no doubt be hearing this very soon if you haven't already.
This is one of those fantastic releases that proves to me that the scene has picked itself up again after what some consider a slight lull not too long ago. The new guys are leading us forward and we will definitely be hearing from these two in particular a lot more over the coming year. Guy J has already made his mark, and so far Henry Saiz seems unstoppable. Keep your ears peeled!
