DJ Treavor is known for being one of the founders of LA's Moontribe and their acclaimed full moon desert parties, but as part of Amani Vs Teapot alongside Amani Rafiki, he's been making waves in the production field over the past few years, with a series of singles and remixes for labels such as Rocksteady and Chug, in addition to an EP from which this 'Source Of Wisdom EP' follows, marking the duo's second release on Ritual Sounds.

From the moment the big whooping bass loop kicks it's way through the speaker, 'Source Of Aahhh' hits hard. An uplifting groove and warm sounds help to induce the house vibes, rattling along as techy stabs and bleeps cut through to the surface. Ethnic sounds fill out the gaps, with an evocative chant being teased leading up to the break. Things don't really climax as such, but more simmer down, but for the heads zoning out, this is an aural trip.

'Wise Man Speaks' is a rocking fusion of groove and dub sensibilities. Vibrant beats and punchy snare drops work well together, creating a twisted groove that is filled out with pads and minor melodies, with floaty ambience and an addictive Rastafari vocal hook growing into time with the beats. Pulsating sounds pan across the groove, taking the mood deeper and deeper, keeping the mood locked and feet moving on the floor.

The b-side is the winner here, an deep and addictive journey into dub that will always hit the spot, with the overall EP worth a look if you are fans of their work.
