Audiofly X "Stolen Goods / Mind Goes Blank"

Out Now on SAW Recordings

Audiofly X are Luca Saporito and Anthony Middleton from the UK. They met and started recording music in 2002 and have since branded their own style of tough jackin electronic house that captures a widespread audience. Steve Lawler and Nic Fancuilli are fans, as is Satoshie Tomiie who signed 'Stolen Goods' to his recent Renaissance 3D album.

'Stolen Goods' is an electro house journey of heavy beats and cool synths. A solid kick drum teams up with a slow growing bouncy electro bassline that gets the groove going, while a lush sweeping lead synth slides overhead. High hats cleverly change up keeping the momentum as the lead fades away to allow lovely sparkles of tone to appear. The drums change up with fills and drops covered in effects as another synth works on top of the bassline. It's cutting and slicing with the drums, while the main lead hovers above before peaking in tone. An interesting break slows down as shakers drop in, moving with the bassline and sparkles that seem to arrive at what sounds like a flick of a match. A spooky charm feel captures the end with willowy tones and low gargles of bass.

A dubbier tech house sound is found on 'Mind Goes Blank'. Swingy drums click and pop with claps and clever high hats while a cool plucked synth struts in. Toms step in adding more groove while a low bass follows and drops into a lush tone. Again more drums are added followed by electro birdie sounds. The synths start to grow and build into a lovely pattern with a somber feel, before stepping into a more electronic groove. Lots of metallic sounds kick in as it all drops off into a crystallized atmosphere. The plucked synth from before enters through the silence and grooves on out.

This is a great representation of what these lads can do. Their sound is interesting and groovy, but still has a great floor feel. Audiofly are busy in the studio with many projects, but first we'll see an upcoming collaboration with James Talk called 'Cool Wet Grass' on Get Physical, and a new EP with Paul Harris on Little Mountain.
