Backtrack "Like A Drug"

Out Now on Binary Records

The Binary Crew return with their latest offering as the Backtrack project is dusted off for the new single 'Like A Drug'. Following on from 'Float With The Ghosts', can it better the support that particular single received, and take the Binary imprint to new heights. It's time for the jury to pass it's verdict..

Backtrack's 'Original Mix' is a big 80's style electro number, with rippling bass, acid lines and a vocal that is pretty reflective of the growing 'vocal by numbers' club tracks. Think of any of IIO's tracks with an 80's vocalist and you wouldn't be far wrong. Let's not be too hard on it though. It's sure to do the business, and has come at a time where the 80's revival is well and truly flourishing.

'Freeloader' follow suit on the b-side, with dubbed out vox, laser synths and a funky electro bassline. A decent alternative to the original, but whether you would call this electroclash or electrotrash remains to be seen. It's all a matter of taste really.

If you are feeling this 'old skool' revival, then you will be addicted to this single like a drug as the title says, but if not, it's more of a bitter little pill to swallow.
