Brahma Feat Jillian Kiggins "Peaks Of Destiny (Remixes)"

Out Now on Toes In The Sand Recordings

Following on from the first disc, 'Peaks Of Destiny' gets reworked by 'Jas', as well as Toes In The Sand label owner 'Deviant'. Jas (aka Chonga, better known as Phil Jason to his mum) has been an active member of the music scene for many years. From his productions on the now defunct Hooj Choons to his guest mix for John Digweed's radio show, he has been in the spotlight for some time. 'Deviant' has been busy making a name for himself opening for and bringing in great DJs to the Cleveland, Ohio area. His recent projects such as Toes In The Sand have been helping him push the sounds he believes in, as well as his own productions.

Jas takes 'Peaks Of Destiny', and turns it into a minimal tech house stomper with a solid groove and analog sounds. The drums chug along with toms, pot and pans, and a great kick which moves into some brilliant electro zap sounds and analog riffs. A wiggly bass groove comes in and drops the tune down into a breakbeat, letting Jillian's voice become the vocal. Only a snip of her voice is used, but it works perfectly for the depth of this mix. As the tune comes out of the break, the sounds all build back together and funk their way out.

'Deviant' creates a darker metallic version, rounding off all of the mixes. Proggy drums and tribal toms start in followed by a mechanical looping sound, which falls into a deep slap bass sound creating a bubbly groove. Synths start looming in and drop off into a break moving up and down without the drums for a few bars. The depth is very nice and leaves room for tiny sounds to play in the background. As the beats come back in, scratching sounds, along with her voice create a delightful closing to Deviant’s remix.

The third release for Toes In The Sand changes things up a bit with its genre hopping mixes. Everything from tech house to breaks to progressive is included here, allowing something for everyone.
