Care In The Community "Damage Control / My Loose Tooth"

Out Now on MOB Records

Relative new boys to Tayo's 'Mob' label, South London trio 'Care In The Community' come forward with a double A side of funky, tough nuskool breaks sure to find their way into many record boxes.

'Damage Control' is a skippy breaks number with a booming low end, a quick, buzzing bassline and a choppy "Damage Control" spoken male vocal. The track pretty much sets it stall out in the first few minutes and doesn't really offer many surprises thereafter. Used as part of a mix it could be quite effective, on its own you really do wish that it would develop a whole lot more. Simple though effective.

On the flip 'My Loose Tooth' provides a little more depth and shows more of what 'Care In The Community' are able to offer in terms of atmosphere. A mean and moody breaks track with shuffly percussion and echoing piano from the start which are joined by persistant, squeaking synths and a chunky 'wah wah' style bassline. These build slowly until eerie noises slide in and out in the background effortlessly, this gives the track an overall spookiness which works well.

Definitely head to 'My Loose Tooth' first for some dark and wobbly molar action.
