Cass & Mangan "Line In The Sand"

Out Now on Sabotage Systems

Cass & Mangan are back to their crazy shenanigans once again with their new release for Cass' own Sabotage Systems imprint. After the impact of their big remix of Royksopp 'Beautiful Day Without You' and the silly but ever-so-clever electro house cover version of Robert Palmer's 'I Didn't Mean To Turn You On', the boys get their heads down and back in the studio working on their own productions. 'Line In The Sand' is a mixed bag of progressive and electronic music that only these two could come up with.

'Line In The Sand' starts in with hollow drums and a groovy warmed-up fuzzy bassline that slowly creeps its way to the front. Trippy vocal snips ride in while looming sweeping synths lay down over the beats. A lush symphony starts pulling up before a ring tone goes off and thuds everything back into the fuzzed out bass. Dirtied-up vocals step in saying "if you want to, come get it". It's sleazy and makes for a good part before sliding back into the ringing and synths once more.

Their 'Felt Remix' is more dance floor orientated with its bouncy beats and stomping bass and midsection. Punchy drums and a tight snare lead the way before a big drop of synths stab in along the bassline. It all creates a lovely bob before moving into some sparse electro beeps that cleverly stay hidden behind. The loud ringing is changed into a sweet synth that sparks off every now and again, while also introducing a shift in the tune to a light bounce that breaks up and falls into a peaking analog moment. A heady kick sticks out once again bringing it all back in, while the vocal sample is twisted beyond comprehension stuttering and spinning with it all till the end.

The quality keeps coming from Cass and Tom and this is no exception. Both tunes are interesting but the Felt mix is what will be killing the floors. Next up for Sabotage will be the much anticipated release of Cass and Luke Chable's 'Opiate', which will feature a remix by newcomer Eames, the upcoming producer from Tom Mangan's Private Joy label whom fans of 'I Didn’t Mean..' will already be familiar with.
