Charlie May Presents Pin Drop "Corporate Entertainment"

Out Now on White Label

Charlie May needs no introduction. His work as Spooky alongside Duncan Forbes is held in high regard, and he is credited for being instrumental in making Sasha the artist who he is today. Indeed, the words 'Xpander' and 'Airdrawndagger' do hold testament to this. However, he is more than capable of doing things on his own two feet, as evidenced by his 'Bug EP' on Junior, and his remixes for artists including Bedrock, Ashland and Orbital. He may not be the most prolific of producers, but he delivers the goods nine times out of ten. Now it's time for another track to leak out of his vaults, bridging the gap between the sounds of the aforementioned EP and mixes nicely. This is Charlie May as Pin Drop, and the track is 'Corporate Entertainment'

Tough drum stabs crunch through the speakers, leading into a metallic loop which weaves in and out of the beats, a ratting synth riff spiraling off into the depths of the track as it grinds to a halt and the main groove and b-line kick in. This is 'Corporate Entertainment', and utilising a simplistic pulsating sub bass b-line, Charlie May layers in some big synth hooks to compliment the shape shifting percussion, pulling the groove tighter together with subtle effects in his own unmistakeable fashion and already you have something that sounds like it has everything it needs.

However, it's when the main synth hook cuts in and out of the groove in pneumatic fashion that things get interesting, as the bassline is stopped, started, looped and basically manipulated right off it's axis, creating an old skool sounding dancefloor nugget that reeks of analogue warmth and kicks hard like an industrial piston. This will indeed entertain the corporate kids on the dancefloor, but with hostile takeover style impact. Reaction is guaranteed.

As was evidenced by the 'Bug EP', Charlie May can create muisc that spans genres and refuses to be held down by boundary. If you are a fan of his work, then this comes highly recommended, but hurry, being a white label this is limited.
