Chris Fraser "Kismet"

Out Now on Vapour Recordings

Chris Fraser's reputation as a dj in his native Australia is second to none. Over the past decade he has supported everyone from BT to Nick Warren and even The Prodigy. As a producer he's enjoyed success with releases on EQ Grey as North Atlantic, spawing the hit track 'Lights Out', in addition to 'Mind Filter'. His latest release 'Kismet' comes under his own name, joining the impressive stable of artists Kasey Taylor has assembled on Vapour Recordings.

The 'Original Mix' contains those tight compacted beats that seem to be typical of material that comes out of Australia. A constant groove and hypnotic drum arrangements keep things moving along low and driving, as the main vocal hook slides in and out of the groove, as the drums intensify, dropping into the break, and head on into a pounding progressive finale..

The 'Bluephaze Mix' on the other hand, strips things down and introduces a downtempo tribal vibe to the track. As the beats slowly form from behind pulsating bass stabs, you find yourself drawn into the groove as it develops. The vocal hook is teased leading into the break, as string layers are introduced to lend an atmospheric edge to the sounds. A big loop during the break soon unleashes the fury, punishing with it's twisted stabs and effects during the latter section of the track.

There is something about this track that has odd appeal. Whilst not mindblowing, it has this killer hook that will stick in your mind, beckoning you to enquire what it is when you hear it. One for the trainspotters.
