Desert Feat John Power "Beyond The Sun (Remixes)"

'The Master' Mark Bell has been already for about as long as Desert, producing under his own name, in addition to collaborations with the likes of DJ Sneak and the Tigerhook Corporation. In the time between he has carved a niche and a reputation with his label Shaboom Records, in addition to his work as Blakkat, and here we have his own personal take on the new Desert single 'Beyond The Sun'.

His 'Vocal Mix' takes the best elements of the original and warps them slightly, with a trippy groove running throughout, warm swirling chords and bass pads bubbling within the slowly simmering soundscape that he creates. A funky upbeat bassline keeps things moving as John Power's vocals drift in and out of the rising beats, and this mix should find favour with those of a more techy persuasion.

Flip it over to find the floor wrenching 'Dub Mix', it's resonating bassline and killer hook drifting through a sea of warm sounds, drifting to a dubby vocal section late on and wrapping up in dark and brooding analogue finale that will take this mix into the minds of many when dropped to a big dancefloor.

With the original being a straight up house track, these mixes add a bit more of a dancefloor edge, with Mark Bell once again reminding us why he so highly regarded. Check these out, you will not regret it.
