Drew Nichols "Mare Di Voci"

Out Now on Toes In The Sand Recordings

Drew Nichols finally hits the studio for some original solo work, after a strong collaboration with Brahma on "Submerged" and a huge remix of "Bound For Ascension". Toes In The Sand have built up a small but solid back catalogue of singles, including one of my all time favourites of last year, the Naveen G Remix of "Peaks Of Destiny".

Now if my Italian doesn't pass me by, "Mare Di Voci" should translate to "Sea Of Voices". So sit back and let this blissful sea wash you away! The Original Mix is a 4/4 outing, making use of powerful bassline rumblings, a plethora of smaller effects, and of course, washed out voices. Would make a great warm up in the earlier stages of a set.

The Breaks Mix however is what really makes this release shine. As the name implies, it is a breaks excursion, with a totally re-invented bassline. The melody seems to have been polished up, and is much more distinguishable, as many of the effects have been stripped back. The washed out voices echo their way through the layers of filters, the overall sense of emotion we get is much stronger in this mix.

Toes In The Sand releases tend to have a distinct sound to them, and it usually comes with a mark of quality, which is clearly evident in this release. Hopefully the future can bring us more releases from this talented producer, and many more impressive releases on the label.
