Girl Nobody "Cages"

Out Now on Release Records

Girl Nobody are the Canadian five piece from Vancouver currently making waves across North America with the release of their debut album 'The Future Isn't What It Used To Be'. Brought together by chance, Polish single Marta Jaciubek, and fellow band members Joey Turco, Jimmy Northey, Jeremiah Schneider and Brett Drury quickly found their niche, and both their live shows and album have been receiving rave reviews, with their catchy, heartfelt and intimate sounds and words capturing the minds of many, including Courtney Love. 'Cages' is one of the standout tracks of the album, and the first of several Release have licensed to be remixed with the dancefloor firmly in mind. This first single sees Lemon8 and Medway step up for the task at hand.

Harry 'Lemon8' has been quiet in the last few months, but in this case quality reigns over quantity as his mix of 'Cages' is right up there with his remixes of Greed's 'Strange World' and Main Element's 'Take Me Down' as one of his finest pieces of work to date. A throbbing sub bass monster with killer riffs, this mix absolutely hammers right from the opening, each section flowing into each other seamlessly as Harry's trademark pumping energy forms the heart of this dynamic and devastating remix. Incredible moods, big room arrangements and a vocal that will send shivers down your spine guarantee this mix will blow the roof off and you through it at the same time.

'Medway' creates his own pumping interpretation on the flip, stripping things right down for a minimalist feel, where his own big bass beats lead the way forward. Techy sounds and filtered vocals float subtly over the top, with the breathy female voice emitting an hypnotic spell that will lead you through the underlying beats and into the dub influenced outro, making this alternative mix one for those heads that like to get lost in sound.

An excellent 20th release for Release Records, with Harry Lemon's remix showing that the man still has the goods to deliver mind blowing music, and as such, this is one 12" every self respecting DJ should own.
