Girl Nobody "Come & Find Me / Careful What You Say (Remixes)"

Out Now on Release Grooves

Canadian outfit Girl Nobody exploded onto the scene not too long ago with Cages, and its success in the progressive scene was largely due to its phenomenal mixes from Lemon8 and Medway. Since then we have seen more singles surface to receive the dancefloor treatment, and their album "The Future Isn't What It Used To Be" is a CD that all self respecting people with an ear for quality should have in their collection. Presented here are two more selections from the album, with remixes taking the tracks in vastly different directions.

First up we have the rockin' Come & Find Me with the remix provided by Andy Holt, who's work with Tarrentella and Redanka has given him a well earned reputation amongst listeners. The remix takes a very housey route, with a grooving bassline and tough percussion hooks leading the way forward. Marta's vocals fit very snugly into the mix, which proves the composition has been put together tightly, as when more alternative styles are turned into dancefloor numbers, it is often the case that the vocals feel slightly out of place. A mix which will appeal to both Girl Nobody fans and house fans in general.

Fellow Canadian Rob Curtis provides the next mix for the closing track of their album, Careful What You Say, which was a mellow guitar number, ending the album perfectly. Curtis has ripped up nearly every element of the track and really turned it into his own, but much to his credit! Marta's vocal snippets float in and out of the lush composition with precise timing, retaining the mellow feel of the original whilst setting up a new atmosphere altogether. This beautiful composition showcases a talent here which we shall definitely be keeping an eye on in the future.

Yet another strong set of mixes for Girl Nobody, and with a remix album on its way soon we can hopefully expect even more quality mixes. Release Grooves have a history of sound releases, and with more to come from Blake Jarrell and Medway, I can highly recommend keeping an eye out for these.
