JF Sebastian Feat Kaz "Burden (Junior Vasquez Remixes)"

Avid Progressive-Sounds readers may remember the track 'Burden' which we reviewed back during the summer of 2002, and now it's been reworked by one of the US's longest serving DJs, Junior Vasquez. With his previous production credentials including reworks of Madonna ,Whitney Houston, and Cher. Does 'Burden' live up to those names? Let's find out..

The 'Earth Mix' takes the original and reworks it into a deep and dark tribal production that fuses deep house grooves with techy sounds and the emotive vocal from the original. with the groove soon lifting into an upbeat direction which compliments the dark beats in surprisingly good fashion. It becomes fairly evident that this mix was something Vasquez crafted for his sets, and with the warm sounds that soundscape this ends up being better than you might have expected.

The b-side contains the 'Earth Beats' and 'Earth Instradub' which serve as good dj tools for those who want to experiment a bit more, but dont really add anything overall to the package.

An odd release for Pitch Black in comparison to the rest of their back catalogue and not really a patch on the superb remix by Harry Lemon on the original release. If you are a Vasquez fan you will probably enjoy this, but otherwise proceed with caution.
