Jamie Stevens "The Night Before"

Out Now on Looq Records

Jamie Stevens is better known as one of the members of Australian group Infusion, but he has been known to put his hand to other projects such as albums by Adam Freeland and more recently Cass, so it's little surprise that he's found the time to fly solo once again with 'The Night Before'.

Jamie's 'Original Mix', is to be blunt, a bit of a monster, with a wicked sub-bassline driving forward from the opening beats. Radar style effects flicker within the vibrating groove, a subtle chime melody moving back and forth underneath the pounding drums, adding both atmosphere and depth to the mix. You find yourself compellingly hypnotised by the bassline, which drops out to reveal some big chords, building tension towards a full throttle climax that sends shockwaves across the floor with devastating effect.

And if that wasn't enough, there's a rather large 'Momu Mix' on the flip. Keeping the deep vibe and melody intact, Momu inject the track with some trippy percussive loops which take over after a floating melodic intro, soon developing into a shocking bass where their trademark breaks bounce like grenades over the throbbing groove. The melody returns some order, but soon succumbs to the beats, leading a deep and melodic finish that is in a word.. lush.

Another big release from Looq, with driving original contrasted in fine style with another excellent remix by Momu, and deserving of a place in your record box without hesitation.
