Jim Rivers "Restore EP"

Out Now on SAW Recordings

Jim Rivers is a talented new DJ and Producer from Bristol, UK. He's been a regular at Empathy, one of Bristol's best nights where he's cultivated his own brand of techy house music and a legion of fans. In the studio, he's created a bouncy techy sound that has enough synth work to please the progressive fans such as Satoshi Tomiie who featured both Restore and Future on his Renaissance 3D mix.

'Restore' has a bouncy tech feel with sweet synth work. The drums start in with an electro vibe as low bass booms hit underneath and an arpeggiator builds slightly deep in the background. The drums drop for a moment introducing a warm synth pad that leads everything on. It winds up and down, building and changing with only the slightest movements. It’s surreal as it builds with the drums galloping along, until the beats drop out again and stomp back with a harder groove.

'Future' is an amazing tune with a fantastic drum groove, bouncy bottom end and long slow builds. Sparse lazer zaps and a good kick warm things up while high hats build shuffling around. Bass bobs in teasing the beats while a quick synth arp glances in. Slicing sounds stomp soon after building slowly while the bass drops into a heavy buzz that moves perfectly. The buzz stops for a moment working back into a more minimal vibe with the bouncy bottom end and new added claps. Another groove takes off and lands into a peak before falling into slight beats once more.

This is a fantastic debut from Jim Rivers. He’s creating a new sound that melts progressive, house, techno, into one without sounding pushed. Following on from his recent remix of Mike Miller's 'What You Feel' on Nascent Recordings, watch out for new original material soon on Nic Fanciulli's Saved imprint and also the Australian EQ Grey label.
