Kasey Taylor & Chris Meehan "South Of The Border"
Out Now on Vapour RecordingsKasey Taylor needs no introduction, being one of Australia's leading spokesmen, spreading the word internationally to pretty much every country imaginable, and when he's not doing this, he's either busy signing material to his label Vapour, or finding time to put his hand to some tracks. His solo work and work alongside Sean Quinn as Our House is already well documented, but now he's found time to team up with up and coming DJ and producer Chris Meehan for a new project. A resident at Republic and Q Sundays, Chris has really come into his own in the last few months as a DJ, and as his production skills have developed alongside this, it was only a matter of time before he was ready to use those skills and by teaming with Kasey they now move 'South Of The Border' and show us what they have done.
The main 'South Eastern Infirmary Mix' draws influence from the melodic edge of the spectrum, with big snares and a trippy musical refrain constantly pushing forward over a deep percussive groove. The chugging sub bassline emits ripples that affect the melody with vocal fills that add a dark mood to this driving progressive number which although nothing that far removed from many other tracks out there, is put together in such a way that you find yourself coming back to it time and time again.
On the flipside, the 'South Eastern Infirmary Dub' sees Kasey and Chris construct a darker sub bass groove, with a killer bass hook introducing itself right from the start. Melodies drift over the top slowly but surely, with layers of chords immersing the a sense of depth into the groove with more emphasis placed on the minimalist beats and sounds for an altogether more hypnotic mix for the heads on the floor.
The first single from this newly formed duo has already received support from across the board, and with several other tracks to look forward to over the coming months, expect to hear a lot more of Taylor & Meehan.
