LeRon Yves Eaux & Luke Star "Feel The Heat"

Out Now on VapouRise Recordings

LeRon & Yves Eaux, the dutch DJ and production duo who also produce as Nocando have spent the last few years forging a path forward out of the Netherlands and onto the world's dance floors, with a string of releases on labels such as Baroque Records and recently Germany's Restart Records. 'Feel The Heat' is their second single for VapouRise, coming hot on the heels of the previous single 'Feel Safe' from earlier this year, with support this time around coming from a remix courtesy of fellow VapouRise labelmate Hernan Cerbello.

The original version of the track fuses together percussive rhythms and atmospheric beats, with some jazzy stylised piano licks woven in for good measure. A rippling and vibrant bassline shimmers through the track's undergrowth, with a chopped up spoken vocal filtered in over the top. The production itself is fine, if somewhat uninspired, and if anything, the main flaw with this track is that it's poorly conceived and projected even worse.

Thank god for small mercies, or in this case thank god for Hernan Cerbello, as taking the bull by the proverbial horn, he basically starts with an almost blank canvas and creates an excellent piano-led interpretation, with a cool, bouncing groove complete with subtle tempo changes. Far and removed from the original, Cerbello's uptempo version is guaranteed to get the dance floor moving.

In some ways, it's a shame such a poor original brings down what could otherwise have been a favourable release. Part of this blame could be placed at the door of LeRon & Yves Eaux. VapouRise also need to reflect upon the last few months and branch out a bit in terms of the artists the label signs. 'Feel The Heat' as such is lukewarm, rather than a raging inferno, so it's only thanks to Hernan Cerbello adding some fuel to the fire that there's anything left in the ashes of this release.
