MK Connect "The Bassment"
Out Now on Tune Inn Records'The Bassment' first appeared many months ago, and since then has been one of the most eagerly anticipated releases on the Tune Inn label, A collaboration between Kai Ying (one half of the production duo Chris & Kai) and Mike Andrew, who's work as Decon has seen him appear on labels such as Method and Q-Records. This single sees them come together for the first time as MK Connect, and living up to the standards set by their previous works, this single's reactions to date indicate it's another worthy addition to their respective discographies.
Kai & Decon's 'Original Mix' starts off on a deep and hypnotic tip, but soon opens up to reveal it's true identify as a massive peak time house track. Hypnotic rhythms lock down a groove early on, with warm ambient effects creeping in as the main section of the track looms in the background. Big reverb and panning sounds create a sense of depth and vast space, with the tempo picking up quickly as the main hook of the track reveals itself, giving it the explosive edge it needed.
'Chris & Kai' provide the remix, and whilst it doesn't have the immedieate presence of the original, it's a respectable remix that rates amongst the duo's best work. Big bass sections and filthy beats provide a smooth, trippy canvas for some incredible sweeping effects and melodies. The teased delays leading into the breakdown sound superb, and when it picks up after the drop, it's pretty hard not to be lured into the chaos that unfolds.
An impressive debut, and one that is long overdue based on how long this track has been signed to Tune Inn. Thankfully it hasnt aged too much, and Kai and Mike can be content that this is the best release on the label in quite some time.
