Mert Yucel & DJB++ Feat Mish Mish "Dreamer"

Acclaimed Turkish producer Mert Yucel builds on his previous work for labels such as Choo Choo and Alternative Route, with his debut single for Baroque Records entitled 'Dreamer'. Teaming up with fellow producer Batu Erbilgin (aka DJB++) and vocalist Aylin Aslim (aka Mish Mish), the track sees Mert move away from the sounds of his 'DeepXperience EP' into a more groove led house style, fitting in quite nicely with the Baroque vibe of the moment.

The duo's 'Original Mix' dazzles with it's smooth house grooves and it's trippy drum arrangements, with the added melodies and bobbing beats creating a deeply hypnotic effect that lures you in. Mish Mish's vocals are dropped in sparingly, bringing an extra dimension to a track that rolls along slowly gaining momentum, but keeping things fresh by introducing new sounds and elements before fading out in minimal yet effective fashion.

The 'DeepXperiece Dub' opts for a cooler dubbed out groove, with tribal percussion more prominent than in the original version. Drifting along slowly to start off with, things pick up when subtle melody lines are dropped in amongst the beats, building to a uplifting atmospheric final half which you sneaks up without warning, and overall saving the mix from becoming repetitive, instead being a nice little mood builder with many possible uses.

Mert Yucel and friends pull a few tricks out of the hat with this release, turning in what is quite frankly one of the best releases on Baroque this year, and a fresh approach to the dark sounds that many people seem to shy away from these days. However, to overlook this would be a mistake, so be sure to check it out.
