Micah & Nicholas Bennison "Slidestream / Drivetrain Mechanics"

Out Now on Propulsion Records

Micah Lukasewich and Nicholas Bennison came together like a growing number of producers do, via the Internet, and soon set out to work on a few collaborations. This is the first of many to come from these two, and Micah has also been working hard in Canada to produce records for Secret Planet, UG, Acting Out and Fade spanning many genres from progressive to tech trance, through to downtempo and disco house. Nicholas' style meanwhile, ranges from hard trance to progressive and tech sounds, all of which have been receiving huge support.

'Slidestream' has received support from Marco V, who licensed the tune to his recent 'Combi:Nations’ compilation. Hard driving drums lead in, while a heavy dubbed out reggae bassline moves underneath, and screeching tones fly through the drums. An energetic percussive stab hits down into the drums, while an acid arpeggio goes off taking the tune into a really pumping middle that drops off into a wavering ambient break. The synths change into liquid pads, and thunderous stomps fall down into an epic build up that blasts off into the hard driving drums again.

'Drivetrain Mechanics' is another hard driving track, peaking at 135. The pace keeps moving while it flows through hard stabs and energetic acid squeals. Clanging sounds follow the drums in creating a dark building mood, while trippy metallic synths sit in the background allowing the acid to set in. The sounds scream along moving together, falling into drips and drops and finally falling into a break. Another layer of acid whips in, creating a slight harmony for a brief second and then the drums rush back in once again, taking the ecstatic acid and beats into a full on frenzy of sound.

'Slipstream' and 'Drivetrain Mechanics' are two tracks for the harder trance and techno connoisseurs, but both don't really bring anything new to the table that hasn't been heard before and as such may not appeal to everyone.
