Milton Jackson & Sei A "Glasgow Kiss"

Milton Jackson and Sei A team up for Urbantorque Records to deliver the “Glasgow Kiss” EP. Featured recently on Behrouz’s outstanding “Nervous Nightlife” compilation, here the track is presented in its entirety along with a Jim Rivers remix and new track “Clicks.”

The original mix of “Glasgow Kiss” is a driving slice of melodic techno that is easy on the ears. A strong melody moves this tune from the mundane and it would work well in a wide variety of DJ sets. While this is the kind of track that sounds best in the context of a mix, there is still appeal for stand-alone listening.

Jim Rivers’ take on the tune beefs up the bassline and also ups the tempo too. Keeping much of the melody intact form the original, this new interpretation should help open this track up to a wider audience and may even be better than the original.

“Clicks” is the b-side and is darker in nature than “Glasgow Kiss”. A similar melody is employed but the bassline is definitely deeper. It’s not a bad track by any means but there just wasn’t enough magic to warrant repeated listening.

While this package isn’t going to set the scene on fire, it’s certainly solid. Urbantorque has been putting out a diverse blend of tunes with the constant being that they are all high quality releases. This one won’t be for everyone but should find plenty of favour from the house heads.
