Momu "Bring it on Back"
Out Now on Spundae RecordingsFollowing on the heels of successful singles by Cass and Suffix, Spundae released “Bring It on Back” from the San Francisco breaks masters Momu. Momu is a power tag-team vigilante duo made up of Jondi (of internationally renowned production team Jondi & Spesh) and Mark Musselman (one of San Francisco's most acclaimed breaks DJ's). Together they deliver a unique sound that has proven support from the world's top DJ's including DJ Hyper, Adam Freeland, Ashley Casselle, Nick Warren, Lee Burridge, John Digweed, Jerry Bonham, Jonathan Lisle, Blackwatch, Hernan Cattaneo, Cass and Hybrid.
Momu’s original remix follows a tribal infused breakbeat rhythm and incorporates the ambience Jondi and Mark are known for. It is a smooth riding track that is light in energy, but full of airy ambience. This isn’t one of their strongest releases and can be a bit repetitive. Skillfully used in a DJ set however, it can spread a great atmosphere over the crowd.
DJ19 adds a unique flavor of melody to Momu’s originally minimal version. Taking breaks out of the mix, 19 breaks up, stretches, and distorts the vocal samples before punch them in to the house groove. Light ambient melodies lay over dark periods building a layer of suspense that leads into a gorgeous breakdown. 19’s mix is the highlight of this single. Keep an eye on this guy, he is doing some hot tracks.
DJ Düse (DNS Records) from Berlin/Germany delivers the second remix on the single however it is quite short in length. In just a little over two minutes, DJ Düse is able to build a strong beat and buzzing bass line around some of the core elements of the original. Just when the track builds into the body, it drops off into a mystery. Very mysterious this DJ Düse is.
