Motorcitysoul are the well known due of Matthias Vogt and Christian "C-Rock" Rindermann. Their deep house sound has been well received since the release of "It's On" back in 2004 from the album "Did You Expect That?". The guys are well known for their remixes on the house scene and have thrown down some sexy cuts over the years. The release of the Hatohay/Solar EP marks the release of their latest album titled "Technique". If you like what you hear on this one, do yourself a favour and pick up a copy of the album!

"Hatohay" is a deep percussive number which strikes the right balance between melody and perc. Neither too much or too little of either. The track rolls out in waves, hitting some nice high peaks and then lulling the listener back down until the next. Whilst it doesn't break any particularly new ground, the tried and tested formula still goes down well with me in this case, and certainly will for fans of the duo's previous work.

The track comes with two mixes, the first being from German boys Manuel Tur and DPlay. Their luscious remix takes "Hatohay" to a new level of deep and manages to unlock a lot from the track. Their own elements marry beautifully with those of the album version and the result is a sound scape which is both heavy and laid back at the same time with a true house vibe to it. Definitely the stand out track of the release.

The Move D remix is the most upbeat and melodic of the three. The tidy chord sequences introduced capture the signature sound of a Move D production but a lot of the deeper elements have been swept up at the same time. It veers into slightly generic territory at times but still has enough style to be taken on board by fans of house who perhaps haven't warmed to anything too deep. Not a bad effort but slightly below the par of the previous two.

"Solar Basic" is a quirky take on the ambient number "Solar" from the album. Acid synths flutter around a strong bassline and are complimented by some more subtle sounds in the upper ranges. The track builds itself up slowly, but once it peaks it has very strong potential to work the floor.

Motorcitysoul once again do not disappoint and if you've ever liked any of their work in the past then you're likely to enjoy this one. With their latest album only just hitting the shelves, you're likely to be hearing a lot more from these guys over the coming months, so be sure to keep your ears peeled.
