Muzo & Barish Turker Vs Maxine Vegas "Friendly Match EP"

Out Now on Red Flag Collective

Red Flag Collective have already lived up to their promise of providing a diverse range of music with their past two releases featuring material from Yunus, Subsky and Muzo B. With the focus on new music, the 'Friendly Match EP' brings us the first of several collaborations between Muzo and Barish Turker, another key figure in the Red Flag movement. In addition to this, the label's policy for unearthing some of the best unknown talent and music from around the globe comes on the b-side with the debut of a producer known as Maxine Vegas, as the label's aims and goals now begin to come crystal clear.

'Adequate Medication' is the first of several tracks to come from the duo of Muzo and Barish Turker, with this and the forthcoming track 'Intravenous' both supported by John Digweed in the past few months. It's heavy bass and beats conceal some superb synth work and big snares that soon begin to spark within this eerie track. The opening moments bring some incredible moods and sounds to the forefront, but soon the big room effects and beats are making their presence felt, with the added vocal only heightening the addictive nature of this track.

The b-side sees Maxine Vegas, the alter ego of Argentinean producer Sergio Borromei debut in spectacular fashion with 'Part 2' of his 'Closed Spaces' project. It's complex grooves and deep melodies draw you slowly, the subtle ambient intro only a precursor of the genius that is to come as the techy synth arrangements begin to wash over the underlying elements as they build up slowly, and when the lead melody rises up through a bed of dub heavy snares, this track totally explodes, with subtle bass changes enhancing the depth and vastness of this track, leaving us only to wonder how on earth such a debut can be followed up on.

Each individual EP has taken a step further from the previous, and so far the Red Flag Collective have not failed in delivering some quality music, with the 'Friendly Match EP' being no exception to the rule. As 2005 looms, one has to wonder what to expect next from our friends in Turkey.
