Renassiance releases it's latest mix compilation from a fresh face on the house scene, Nic Fanciulli from the UK. His sexy dirty funky acidy deep house sprung up like wildfire and took over the masses in the last few years gaining respect from punters and professionals alike. A class act who works as well on the decks as he does in the studio, drops in with a fantastic mix that is as futuristic as it is retro, and as funky as it is deep.

A clever Robotic intro by Nic himself starts disc one on its ride through deep house, disco, and electro. The first drops of analog funk step in with Phonique, as the vocal swings us along, while soaring synths lightly jazzify the background. A sweet blend though Aril Chawla & Dale Anderson as paino chords stab down and a female voice carries inside the groove. The mix stays on a jazzier house vibe through G-Club's 'Faith' and starts moving with the talented Gavin Froome. A good kick starts here as rhodes chords filth things up. A late night groove sets in followed by a slappy disco tinged workout by Patrick Turner. Keys flutter changing continuously before falling fast into Sandy Rivera's 'Changes'. A slightly camp, but catchy sexy tune with vocals and a bassline to die for. Electro sets in with Metrosoul and PJ Davy.

Quirky sounds and squishy lazertag games play within funky chords and key changes, while acid plays on top of piano's. The 'Spy' tech sounds of Mr. Gil & Ricardo Motta change up the mix and drive it down into a filthy house number by James Talk. Acid enveloped by a warehouse feel, and a sweet bouncy groove works tastefully into the peak of the first mix. Anthony Acid's 'Big Time Disco' captures the mood by stomping drums, a fat bassline and massive stabs of piano chords, while the Basement Jaxx 'Flylife' scoops up the missing peices and scatters thier own exhilerating spastic house sound for the finale.

The second mix again starts with an intro from Nic, while the warm chords of The Electric Press fit heavenly in the background. A sweet jazzy vibe sets in and quickly progresses into a filthy electro bassline. The disco vibe sweeps us into Nic's Buick Project with partner Andy Chatterley. Electric Press remix 'At The Rave' into a wealth of filth with a zappy sounds, distored bass and warm chord stabs. A classic in the making, Bobby Peru funks things up even more with his insanely robotic and metallic 'Heart'. Dirty squelching buzzes into the Buick Project's remix of Soul Mekanik 'Wanna Get Wet'. An anthem of a tune with it's funky acid groove, ringing drums, and catchy sexy sassy vocals. A sleezy electro vibe carries through until Jamie Anderson's remix of the fantastic Paolo Mojo arrives. 'Motor Strings' is a disco tinged groove with sweeping pads that sets up the mood of the rest of the mix. A deeper blend of house sounds arrive as we slide into G-Club and Cosmos. Two sweet mellow atmospheric songs that blend into Nic's solo production 'The Squirreled'. A sinister groove spunks down upon the deepness and makes you forget about it completely. Acid follows and travels throught a rocking spaceship of sounds. To go even further, Trentemoller's remix of 'Coincidence' by David Schaffauser brings the end to mental climax by bursting with hard acid, a heavy techy groove and evil distorted vocals. The clicks and cuts keep you glued while the bassline jacks you hard up and down, throwing you flat on your face and waiting for the mellower sounds of Booka Shade's 'Mandarine Girl'. Gliding synths, scratchy claps and bubbly bassline cum up this mental mix and bring it back down to reality.

Nic Fanciulli has a bright future ahead of him. He's a smooth DJ who flows through various genre's but builds the best of a futuristic yet retro world. The music on this mix is catchy and fun, but has a depth and smoothness that will keep you listening for ages, and much like his live DJ residencies and sets this comes highly recommended.
