PQM "Nameless"

Out Now on Yoshitoshi Recordings

Prince Quick Mix is up for his third release for Yoshitoshi. A sweet vocal track, with an instrumental, some dj tools and an accapella, and two different remixes by Chab. A eerie but driving set of mixes for clubbers.

The ‘Sweet Vocal Pass’ comes on with a kick, and scratchy sounding highs. Claps come in and a nice groove starts in with the melody. A guitar sound filters it’s way in, as a high tone in the background makes it’s way to the front of the track. The bassline drops in, as her voice starts to pernatrate through the sounds. This is a nice smooth groove for a vocal song.

The “Instrumental’ is just that; a stripped down version of the ‘Sweet Vocal Pass’, with no vocals at all, whilst the ‘Acapella’ and ‘Tools’ have been added to show off your own creativity. You get the full voice, as well as the drums, and synths and guitar sounds of the whole track.

‘Chab Mix 1’ takes us deeper and darker into some nice tribal drumming. A rich kick drum, and some real sounding drums take the song in a different direction. The bassline is much more driving, but still has the groove. Synths come in over the top, as her voice comes in. Low undertones take this very deep, and dirty, while still floating.

‘Chab Mix 2’ comes in where Mix 1 ends; a darker and techier version with more focus on the synth work, and the low stabs. The same sort of groove is there, with a bit more of an anthem feel; something you would hear in a massive club. Little beeps take us deep into the sinister vibe, as the synths swoop us up and into a break. The break is all synth work, and then it comes crashing back in with the vocal. Dreamy, yet very driving.

PQM is on a roll, and this is just another slice of what he has to offer. ‘Nameless’ is nice vocal, with different layers, and different stylings then most records. Another good Yoshitoshi release, and something to look forward to.
