Paolo Mojo Presents Parade "Back In The Day"

Out Now on Sabotage Systems

Paolo Mojo making breaks tracks? That I am sure, is the thought many people thought when they read about this track. More known for his unique DJ sets, fusing various styles of house with the techier and funkier side of things, young Mojo has been quietly beaver away in a studio somewhere developing his production skills. 'Back In The Day' is the first track from his breaks project Parade, and shies away from the progressive breaks sound that seems to be all the rage at the moment, instead taking us quite literally back in the day somewhat..

Mojo's own 'Original Mix' is a little dazzler of a track, with a smooth house groove playing host to some melodic broken beats and a bassline that is second to none. As these elements cross each other's paths, the resulting soundscape builds up slowly as a vocal hook drifts in and out of the compacted beat arrangements. Laser sounds rise out of the groove on occasion keeping things interesting as more twists and turns than an episode of 24 unfold, before the strings take over during the breakdown, adding an element of grandeur to this homage to a sound of yesteryear.

In this game of two halves, Cass becomes Red Five and goes up against Plastic Raygun's Sam Vandal for the remix. Techy grooves and rough beat arrangements are the order of the day, with a fun rolling bassline sitting in the centre of the playing field. Beats fly about like a ball moving from midfield to goal area, hitting home with a goal as we enter the sublime break, before play commences. Final score, 1-1.

Paolo Mojo sets himself up nicely here, showing off a few skills as he refines his production prowess, before passing the ball over to Cass who brings it home for team Sabotage with an assist by Sam Vandal. Result!
