Redanka "Waves"

Out Now on RIP Records

After taking a bit of a diversion and getting on his soapbox with the angst filled 'In A State', Andy Holt returns with a more traditional single under his Redanka guise, his second this year for RIP Records, a label he has played a major role in building up over the last few years. 'Waves' is a return to the Redanka sound that has earned him recognition over the last few years, and is right up there with 'Out Of The Dark' as one of his finest singles to date.

The 'E-Mission Mix' is a massive electro tinged track aimed squarely at the dancefloor. Deep chords float over the rocking bassline, with layer upon layer of melodic keys being worked into the groove more and more as the track progresses. A subtle hook keeps the pace at a nice constant, with string elements sparsely lifting through the busy soundscape. With more twists and turns than a roller coaster, this is a massive Balearic style track just perfect for the summer nights, or the funkier end of a big set.

Over on the flip lies the 'Bay Of Islands Mix' is a gorgeous downtempo version of the track, dubbed out beats and emotional strings the focus of this laid back rework, and total contrast to the peak time 'E-Mission Mix'. Maintaining all the intricate layers and tight production, and complimenting the a-side in such a way that you could use this early in the evening or late at night, this whole single highlights the vast and varied talent Andy Holt possesses.

Slightly more progressive than the usual fare one would associate with RIP Records, but another great release nevertheless. Watch as the 'Waves' will crash upon dancefloors the world over. You heard it here first.
