Rhythm Code "Tonight"

Rhythm Code has been on a role as of late, with several singles added to their discography over the past few months on Cuba Recordings and a previous single here on Minimal, not to mention remixes of such artists as Ty Tek and JDS. 'Tonight' is their first release of 2004, another percussive affair that is typical of their work, backed with a remix by Deep Groove.

The 'Original Mix' prides itself on some twisted tribal percussive and deep sub bass grooves, with rhythm layers and vocal stabs thrown in for good measure. Techy effects and snare rolls that sound like they are straight out of Underworld's 'Cowgirl' fill out this hypnotic little number, and fans of Rhythm Code's twisted sounds will lap this up for sure.

'Deep Groove' head for a more traditional house vibe, layering the intro with some subtle rhythms before slowly bringing the bassline in from underneath and lead the track forward. Subtle harmonies fade in whilst the vocal sits on the end of the rumbling bass, impacting out of the speakers each time the mix drills harder. Deep Groove bridge the divide between druggy house and funky rhythms with this tribal monster of a mix, adding another niche to their already impressive track record.

One for the house heads, and a solid little single from Minimal that fans of the label and regulars at the duo's own Moov night will find hard to resist.
