Stel & Good Newz "Fineline"
Out Now on Baroque RecordsStelios Vassiloudis & Vangelis Labrakis return with their second single as Stel & Good Newz, following on from their recent debut on the Audiotherapy label. 'Fineline' is quite a departure from their first single, and their first vocal single to boot. Having been snapped up by Baroque Records, this track totally exemplifies what the label is all about, and has all the markings of another successful single for both parties.
The 'Original Mix' is a big vocal led number, pumping beats and a solid bassline setting the mood nicely during the first few minutes of the track. The vocal is slowly introduced, creeping up behind the beats before it's dominance sets in, taking the tempo soaring upwards in the process. Holden-esque melodies flicker over the top of the groove, as the vocal cuts through nicely, taking us into the break. Its from here that things get interesting as big stabs bring an exciting and dynamic twist to the bassline which drive hard to mark the final moments of the track, no doubt sending the floor into a frenzy in the process.
'Nick & John Dalagelis' once again support this new Greek duo with a remix over on the flip. Stripping things right back, the vocal is brought into the fray early on and soon subsides to reveal a tough and techy melodic interpretation that starts off slowly, but by the time it builds itself up, it becomes a pounding peak time remix that keeps the vocal to a minimum, and takes control in it's own unique way, utilizing the melodies with mesmerizing effect.
As Stel & Good Newz's second single, this again indicates that these two guys will be ones to watch, with further singles and a slew of remixes for labels such as Saw Recordings, Swift Records and Audiotherapy to follow, but in the meantime, you should check out this out as it's another quality release for Baroque.
