Steve Mac & Nic Fanciulli "Smack Dance"

Out Now on sMACk Records

'Smack Dance' marks the inauguration of Steve Mac's very own Smack label, a brand new venture which is seemingly destined for great things. Never one to shy away from collaborations or adaptation of his sound to retain freshness, Mac joins forces with Nic Fanciulli to deliver the label's debut release.

Make no mistake, this track is funky as hell. Chunky beats and a driving, droning bassline form the basis of the track, while a relentlessly techy, filtered and twisted dollop of madness rides erratically along the top line. The track somehow harks back to an early era of the house scene while sounding ridiculously fresh and relevant. Its sublime arrangement of drops and loops ensures that interest levels never wane. Energy builds with subtlety and consistency, securing its status as a dancefloor bomb.

Matt Nordstrom, an artist who has worked alongside Mac on previous releases, is given remix responsibilities. A darker, more eerie theme is generated via a series of industrial effects and sirens which assault the soundscape. The techno drum pattern is simple yet extremely effective, riding alongside a deep sub bass, keeping energy levels at a constant high throughout.

In summary, 'Smack Dance' is yet another terrific addition to the discography of Steve Mac and marks the exciting launch of his new label. Keep a look out for pending follow ups including several more high-profile collaborations.
