Sven Hellfish "Mr Drugabuser"

Out Now on Acting Out Records

Sven Hellfish is the collaborative project of some of Europe's finest artists. Inkfish have produced and remixed for many leading progressive labels worldwide, and also have their own label, whilst Hardy Heller is a producer who needs no introduction, and here they team up with up and coming techno star Sven Andersson. Having done remixes for artists such as DJ Hell and labels like the classic F-Comm, Sven is already well on his way to making his name for him, and this collaboration entitled 'Mr Drugabuser' should help to take his career even further, with the help of the progressive veterans who contribute to this package.

The Sven Hellfish 'Original Mix' is not a bad track overall, chunky tribal rhythms and house grooves providing the foundations for what is basically another big sounding melodic house track. Dubbed bass and melodic pads build to a string laden finale, with a quirky vocal used to create that druggy heads down vibe that works well during late night sets, but the track is nothing different to many other tracks of this style that we've heard in the last few months.

The remix however, is simply gorgeous and sees 'Ian Ossia & Marc Mitchell' come together in the studio once again. Having both been involved in the progressive music scene since it's early days, they've been inspired by the ever changing sounds and styles, and this remix pays homage to the sounds of the last few years. From the classic pumping grooves and beats to the epic house piano breakdown, this is a superbly produced mix that long time music fans will appreciate, as it goes about it business and does what Ossia & Mitchell intend for it to do, and that's set the dancefloor on fire.

A long awaited release from the Acting Out camp, and whilst the original may not grab your attention, I recommend you head straight for the flip for a little treat from two of progressive's legends, and the good news is, there's more where that came from on the forthcoming Innersense Recordings label that they are involved in.
