The Idiots "The Techno Monster"
Out Now on Sexonwax Recordings'The Idiots' burst onto the scene several months ago without much fanfare, but soon began turning heads with their off the wall approach to production and addictive dancefloor tracks and remixes. Having remixed classics by Sharpside and Solar Plexus, and with two original singles under their belt, the trio of friends Desyn Masiello, Leon Roberts and Omid '16B' Nourizadeh return once more with their third offering for the excellent Sex On Wax label.
Living up to it's name, 'The Techno Monster' is just that and a little more, as our favourite trio of crazy bastards cook up a storm. The result is this heavy wigging house track with a twist, its huge dirty bassline and droning bass sounds capable of stirring the nether regions of even the most fussy music lover, and will without a doubt refresh the parts that other basslines cannot reach, in a way that only The Idiots can.
Meanwhile, the b-side takes us down memory label as we revisit the track 'Cold'. An old Omid 16B track from 1996, this funky tech edged track still manages to hold its own, thanks largely to it's hooky acid bassline and killer percussion, and for those who missed it the first time around, an insight into the early work of one of the scene's most consistent producers.
As we've come to expect from Sex On Wax, this is another quality house 12" with more than its fair share of cutting edge ideas. The Idiots may only deliver the occasional track here or there, but every release so far has been a winner for the trio, and 'The Techno Monster' is undoubtedly their best yet.
