Tomcraft "Katowice / Cold As Chrome"

Out Now on Craft Music

German DJ and producer Tomcraft has always been a favourite amongst fans of electro. What makes him a true veteran in this area is that he wasn't a progressive producer who has just jumped onto the electro bandwagon lately as a lot of them have. Electro has been his thing right from the beginning. So if you're looking for a good electro track hand picked by a master of the genre, then you can't look past Craft Music - Tomcraft's own outlet for tracks which have consistently been massive favourites in his sets.

'Katowice' starts the release off with a big intro consisting of futuristic pads and fx before the beatbox-influenced percussion takes hold. The lead melody takes hold very quickly, as its raw power makes it stand out vibrantly in the composition. The track continues to build up in intensity before exploding, and it is no wonder this one has been going down well in Tomcraft's sets!

'Cold As Chrome' goes for a darker and more subtle route, whilst still being equally as powerful as the flipside. The track cuts between a predominant 4/4 beat throughout and some sexy breakbeats during the breakdowns. The lead flows underneath or behind a lot of the other elements, but this gives it a very interesting touch which will be favoured by those who like their electro to be on the darker side.

With Craft Music being an offshoot of Great Stuff Recordings, it is obvious that it is going to be a label putting out quality tunes. With a solid back catalogue and now this tight release, we can only assume that we'll be hearing a lot more "great stuff" coming from this label. Tomcraft's sound has matured in recent times when compared to some of his earlier work, and hence I personally have come to respect him a lot more. Some interesting projects are yet to come from Tomcraft, including a collaboration between himself and Jimmy Pop from Bloodhound Gang!
