Trent Cantrelle "Fallin Off The Floor"

Out Now on Whoop Records

Trent Cantrelle has been spinning in his native New Orleans for over ten years, and has more recently started developing his own productions and remixes, with material already appearing on UK labels ADSR and Maelstrom, not to mention New Orleans' own VISE, a label which he is involved as an A&R. 'Falling Off The Floor' marks his debut on Whoop! Records, kicking off the 2004 for the label.

Trent's 'Original Mix' features a cheeky little groove, sampled from blues legend Stanton Moore. Dark and dirty tribal rhythms and funky blues vocal are the main elements of this quirky and innovative track. Funky hooks and bouncing beats take over during the latter half, but the blues are swinging throughout this somewhat hypnotic cut straight out of NO.

However, 'Freaky Chakra' quite literally tears things up with his peak time revision. Sticking close to the rhythm of the original, a driving bassline and deep effects are used to great effect to move things along at a fast and furious pace. Bouncing beats and a jumping hook provide all the tools necessary to rock the floor, and that it will do every time you choose to use it.

A slightly off the cuff release for Whoop, which may not appeal to all, but with a solid remix from Freaky Chakra, should find it's way into several record boxes for those house DJs looking for something to keep as for those if all else fails moments.
