Van Bellen & Greed "City Lights"

Out Now on SOG Liquid

Yoogie Van Bellen is one of Europe's most acclaimed and well known producers, and Tobi Wirz has been making a name for himself as Greed for several years, both as a producer and as part of a live art with vocalist Lesley Meguid. Having teamed up to do a remix of Greed's last single 'I See You', the duo now turn their hands to an original track called 'City Lights'.

A big rolling bassline leads into the 'Original Mix', remaining prominent right throughout the track, as ripping melodic hooks and atmospheric fills are used to great effect to create a warm and downbeat tempo within which Lesley's breathy vocals slot perfectly. Constantly evolving as it builds, the subtle key changes are reversed as the mellow breakdown kicks in, before the beats are slowly raised from underneath once more to drive things over the finish line in an emotional filled few moments. Dreamy European house at it's finest.

Not content, 'Greed' re-edits the track for the b-side mix, with a dramatic intro leading into a squelchy percussion led rework which brings a more twisted vibe to the groove, and complimenting the original very well. Just watch that hypnotic bassline cause some damage. You have been warned!

One of SOG's finest releases for a while, and a reminder of how good straight up progressive house can be when done right.
