Behrouz "What We Do In Life Echoes"

Out Now on Shinichi Recordings

Behrouz, one of San Francisco's rising stars, show's us his own blend of tribal, deep, spacey, techy house. As a Release resident he's played alongside artists from Danny Tenaglia to Deep Dish, and has established himself as a force in the tribal scene, pushing himself, and others. On this record he combines many elements including piano's, thick bass, and swirling synths, that could easily fit into a tech house set, a funky progressive set, and maybe even a deep house set.

We start out with a nice kick, and thick drum sounds. In comes the bass, along with a synth that swirls over the top. The super deep bass creates a light feeling, as the piano makes it's way into the mix. The piano takes you into the break, as it changes growing into chords and falling into an ethereal mindscape. The piano cascades and brings you back into the song, as everything is full on, and up in the air.

On the flip we have the Black Plate mix. Starting out with techy percussion, and light high hats, we move into bouncy bass and big claps. A deep undertone keeps the groove, as the song morphs into a nu school new wave song. With layers of bass and mids the song fills up, and really gets going. A sample comes in, overlapping and starting the shuffling feeling. A percussive melody pops in over the top, to top the whole thing off. At the break we hear the sample again, as it twists into the open air, and falls with the deep bouncy bass. This song is so groovy, and techy, it will work many different crowds.

Behrouz really shines and show's his talents as a producer on this record. With constantly shifting sounds, and crazy thick textures, the man has a good idea of what deep techy funk means.
