Blackwatch Vs Simon Noble "Time Flies"

Out Now on Pitch Black Records

New York's Blackwatch teams up with former Breeder member Simon Noble for a project that travelled across the Pacific Ocean and back during its creation, from New York to Leeds and back again. The result is 'Time Flies', and with remixes from Mick Wilson under his Ice Cream Social guise, it looks like this could be Pitch Black's biggest release to date.

A drum heralds the start of the Original mix as synths rumble back and forth, echoing as they hit the bassline, as the atmospherics lead us into the uplifting vocal sample, the percussion line rolling along in and out the of the soundscape that is being laid down, as a series of dark stabs growl within the beats, a scratching effect dropped in to cut up the beats, fading into a dreamy piano line that forms the break, the vocal floating angelically over the top as the track continues, this time wrapping itself around this captivating piano line. Another superb production from Michael Thomas and lets hope this is not the end of his partnership with Simon Noble.

Over on the flip one half of Parks and Wilson, Mick Wilson delivers two remixes under his Ice Cream Social guise, the first being the Static mix with its dark grownling breakbeats fuels a swirling atmospheric cut that fades to a teased vocal and then proceeds to get dark and twisted on your mind, then dropping into tough breakbeat, before the main vocal is given centre stage under a deep series of effects. The Cinematic Sounscape mix on the other hand has a lighter feel, a deep bassline forming the heart, which lots of strange and eerie sounds are rolled around, gradually getting louder in volume, then as synths ran back and forth the vocal appears momentarily before the track picks up the pace that remains consistent throughout and never really changes. A mix for the early morning, thanks to its ambient-esque feel.

With probably the most talent on a Pitch Black release yet, expect this track to do the business.
