Digby & Oliver "Seven Stones"

Out Now on Zero Tolerance

Jason Digby and Gab Olivier have been prominent in the Melbourne scene for many years. With dj duties in prestigious clubs around the world as well as writing numerous tracks between the two of them, they are definately producers to watch. They have carved solid reputations for their deep, dark and dirty underground sound, and have found their way into the boxes of John Digweed, and Anthony Pappa alike.

Seven Stones starts out with a lovely intro, with falling sounds, that create a percussive element. The atmosphere is dark and very minimal, but also very huge. The rumbling bass bubbles from below, while deep stabs and kicks pull you through the song. There's a bit of a human element in the break in which they use a voice that sounds smothered and muffled. Continuing with swirling sounds, and delicate bleeps, the break is never too long and kicks in at the right time.

The B side starts out with the kick, and follows the same patterns. Though the break has more of the vocal, which is longer but still as subdued. There are a few more filters on this side, along with heavier drums. The overall atmosphere is still dark, and deep, just created for a different time in a set.

This release is featured on Anthony Pappa's awesome Resolution mix CD for React, as well as Pako & Fredericks mix CD and the new Zero Tolerance No Nonsense album. Watch for these guys as they bring more of their deep and devastating sounds to us.
