DJ Rasoul "Oh Baby"

Out Now on Hooj Choons

San Fran producer Guy Nado has enjoyed much success in previous years, with releases appearing on some of the US's best imprints, such as Naked and Guidance, as well as his own imprint, Soulfood. It's from Soulfood, that this track, Oh Baby, under his DJ Rasoul alias was licensed, and in true Hooj style has been given a lovely sprinkling of varied remixes.

First up is the Original, a twisted house workout that has wide appeal due to its slick bass and beats, interweaved with the soft vocal that runs subtly over the bassline. Following on from this, a more European flavour is added, in the form of a remix from Chus and Ceballos who rework the track into a groovy Spanish house workout, that continues their excellent track record of producing outstanding percussive cuts.

Over on the second disc we have two very different remixes, which compliment disc one perfectly. First up is a breaks rework from Quinn Whalley who trainspotters will know from the outstanding production outfit that is Different Gear. A classy mix, where a lot of the Different Gear magic is very evident at times. However, the best is saved for last as Hooj head honcho Red Jerry delivers a rare remix, turning the track into a gorgeous summertime anthem, a sublime synth line being mixed in with some dreamy beats and tough bassline, and you get the feeling that summer will never go away when this track is played.

Once again, Hooj deliver the goods, and even with an increased release schedule of late, the quality scale is firmly set to high.
