DJ Tiesto has has an earthshattering 2002. Be it the release of his debut album, 'In My Memory' or the third in his compilation series 'In Search Of Sunrise', or even a slew of remixes, 4 singles and several awards. the most impressive of which as being named Top DJ in the World 2002 by DJ Mag, Tiesto certainly has worked for it, and this is yet another notch in that legacy, as he teams up with Tom Junkie XL for Obsession, which has been lovingly remixed here by the currently on form 'Filterheadz' and soon to be world domination Australian outfit 'Nu Breed'.

The 'Filterheadz Mix' strips it right down and builds it right back up, Filterheadz style. In much the way that their remix of 'Emerald' as pure orgasmic electronic carnage, this mix is much the same, rattling along at breakneck speed as deep loop upon deep loop drop us in and out of massive vocal stabs, huge firing synths building the tempo each time before dropping down into one humengous break to blow your head off. This isn't just music. It's mind altering.

'Nu Breed' opt for a slightly more laid back approach, slipping some nice acid loops amidst layer upon layer of deep techy breaks, and in the process pulling off a very fresh and innovative mix. Who honestly would have imagined that a breakbeat remix of a DJ Tiesto track would work, but it does and by damn it's a stormer.

I have a feeling that this isn't the last of DJ Tiesto appearing on a 'progressive' website, but dont worry, we aren't going soft on you, it's just Tiesto making music with widespread appeal.
