Kings Of Tomorrow "I Want You[For Myself] (Remixes)"

Out Now on Yoshitoshi Recordings

It's re-release time for Yoshitoshi with this release, as the classic Kings Of Tomorrow track from the mid 90s gets dusted down and brought up to date in grand fashion by two currently on fire individuals. Reworking the track we have Canadian Luke Fair who has enjoyed success with his own tracks like Let U Know and also with remixes for Max Graham in recent months. Alongside him is Holmes Ives, who many would know better as Oko Tek or Memnon, but here he is under his own name with another set of mixes.

Luke Fair's mix fuses guitar-esque riffs with rolling percussion over a hypnotic house groove. As the vocal weaves in and out of the sounds being laid down, the track comes into its own and really will do the business at any club you so wish to choose it in. The Luke Fair Dub is more of the same, slightly reworking the arrangements, but creating something equally as infectious, a groovy cut that will have you shaking your booty on the floor.

Holmes Ives goes for a more minimalistic vibe on his mixes, focusing on the percussion rather than the vocal and the track just moves along at a constant pace, not really building and dropping into another direction, and the track really doesn't compare to the Luke Fair mix, but it's not that bad, just not really a dancefloor monster. Warmup material perhaps though. The dub again is a restrained affair which fails to do anything that will stand out and make you take notice, and whilst the arrangements are nice again it is a poor rework in comparison to the other mixes provided on the release. A real shame.

A bit of a mixed bag really. The Luke Fair mixes really do the business and will work on most floors. The Holmes Ives mixes are not quite as essential but the vocal mix might work ok in a warm up environment. Seek this out if you want to check out the Luke mixes though, as they are very well done.
