Lifestylus "Spinnin"

Out Now on Vapour Recordings

Lifestylus are Paul Goodyear and Nathan G who together have worked on numerous projects, one of the most recent being a remix of the new Taylor Dane single. Nathan has also been cutting his teeth in a solo capacity recently with a remix of Fuf and Goz's 'Coffee 2 Go' on Kinky Vinyl going down well, and a forthcoming EP on the same label destined for greatness. In the meantime the duo unleash 'Spinnin' on us, courtesy of respected Oz imprint Vapour.

The 'Original Mix' starts with it's trippy swirling bass and drum and bass style whoomp effects dropping into a head's down percussion drive, reverb effected drum patterns punctuating the bassline as wild filtered key changes make things get interesting indeed within the break and as the track reaches it's climax. An interesting cut that has gained appeal from across the board, but it just lacks that certain something to make it great.

Kasey Taylor dons his 'Katai' guise on the flip, reworking the track into a more progressively minded direction, a distored sub bass effect running through the bassline, and swirling effects and vox samples fusing intricatly with the drum arrangements creating a more appealing remix that blows the original clean out of the water, but based on the background history of the man on the mix, is that any wonder?

With the remix from Kasey being the pick of the bunch here, it reminds us how versatile he is as a producer and once could only hope for more material from him in the future, check out this release if only for his superb remix.
