Major North "Annihilate (Remixes)"

Out Now on Polyester Music

The classic from yesteryear returns once more, following on from the Original and Ha-Lo remixes released at the end of 2001. Now with the Timo Maas mix being backed up by a remix from canadian uber producer Max Graham, Polyester are aiming to bring the definitive collection of Annihilate remixes to an end, hoping that each will become as much a classic as the original which was a massive track that became very much a part of night at Livepool's Cream in the UK back in the day.

Timo Maas's mix starts with a dark siren sample screaming through the speakers, weaving in and out of the bassline as it begins, as the sinister Annihilate vocal punches its way to the surface and the main percussion kicks in, sequences of panning synths cutting in between each vocal stab, the bassline easing momentarily before taking on a funky feel that rises and falls, subtly giving way to the atmospheric break before

Max Graham's mix on the other hand sounds much softer from the offset, the synth based percussion gradually getting louder and louder, utilising trademark Max Graham techniques to build the mood, before the vocal explodes suddenly, and as we head further, subtle atmospherics are placed behind the percussion line, giving the track a very moody feel, like an embryo slowly evolving, as the track reverses on itself, the atmospherics carrying the vocal and the synths fading slowly to the background in the break, the vocal being drawn out as we head into a massive change of pace as synths clatter down hard onto the bassline.

The Timo Maas mix stands the test of time well, but the Max Graham remix is the one to go for here. A a siniter slow building monster that attacks when you least expect it.
