Mash Up "Karmasutra"

Out Now on Plastica Red

Kevin Swain and David Snell have more aliases and production guises than the world's most wanted men, and provide a fair number of the releases put out on the Plastic Fantastic family of labels. Several months ago they debuted their latest project, Mash Up, with the massively infectious Do It, featuring the vocals of Al Collingwood. Now they return with the follow up, Karmasutra.

The Original Mix is a dark, tripped out affair with a druggy vocal that grabs you by the balls as it evolves. Even more powerful than the vocal in Do It, this could quite easily be mistaken for a new Underworld production, and just as slickly produced. The boys have outdone themselves here.

Over on the flip is the Punk Funk Dub, a deeper vibe being present here as big room sounds and effects wash over the percussion and the vocal is teased sparingly. A groovy number that really comes into its own in the break as atmospheric effects bring you down then lift you right back on. Funky as fuck.

The guys have come under criticism for the massive amount of material they have done that seems to borrow from other tracks of theirs, but be assured that is not the case here. The boys have stepped up to silence the critics and this is going to cause a serious storm. Watch out for some remixes to come from the likes of Chus and Ceballos too.
