Medway Vs Pete Gawtry "Optical Illusion"

Out Now on Progress Inn

Medway is one of the biggest artists on the Hooj label, and Pete Gawtry is the mastermind behind the highly successful Tune Inn shop and labels. Earlier this year they released 'Geno Sequence' on Decipher Recordings to massive acclaim, and now they follow it up with this brand new track for Progress Inn, 'Optical Illusion'.

With more of a house influence than Geno Sequence, and spread over two slabs of plastic, there is a nice variation of mixes on offer. The Original has a very US house influenced feel, obviously borrowing from Medway's superb production skills, complimented by Pete's 'learning curve' of ideas. Thats not to say because hes a new producer that he still has a lot to learn, because both this track and Geno Sequence are both stormers. This is backed up by a massive Mike Hiraztka mix. Mike who's album with Jon Cowan, Altered States 2 is currently blowing up stateside is no stranger to Medway, having worked with him on several tracks under the guise of Minders, delivers a stunning mix that has been going down a storm wherever it is played.

Katania deliver a driving rework, with a bassline that is unrelenting and incorporating loads of depth, whilst the superb Brian Stillwater delivers a more refrained mix, that gives the track a very atmospheric feel, rounding up a very strong doublepack

Progress Inn, even though in its infancy is showing signs of etching a name for itself in the progressive market as we enter 2002. Be sure to watch this label carefully.
