Moguai "U Know Y"
Out Now on Hope RecordingsMoguai has been working away over the years in Europe, but 'U Know Y' is probably his finest work to date, and has gone down such a storm over in those parts that Hope Recordings have licensed the track for UK release, at the same time giving it a full set of remixes, with aims to push the track further and harder than any release that has come before. Already these ideas are paying off, but what exactly is the fuss about? Let's find out..
The 'Original Mix' has been ripping up dancefloors in Europe and further afield for some time now. Tough beats, twisted electro synths and large bass heavy b-line combine to create one of the funkiest, dirtiest grooves you will have heard in quite some time. Add in crowd effects and the catchy as f**k vocal and this track shakes, rattles and rolls and infectiously gets you on your feet bouncing along to the groove. It's hard to say what it's appeal is, but I guess that's something that 'U'll Know Y'.
Hope old timers 'Starecase' provide the remix on the flip, with a big bassline of their own style. Starting off with some tight percussion and some rolling synth action the mix pushes forward, dropping into a series of massive build ups, channelling the energy into an acid influenced groove that flips and twists your mind in all sorts of directions. The pace drops a gear halfway through, as silence falls over the main melody and slides back in to another full on race for the finale. Perhaps not the Starecase of old, but definately a mix that has diverse enough appeal to work in several environments.
Further remixes set to push the track to even broader audiences are to come from Distorted Minds and Si Begg, but for now check out this 12" of mixes which are already getting huge support from all the usual suspects. 'U Know' it makes sense.
